Discover Africa is a series of anthroological documentaries shot from within the heart of Africa. The programme grows from Zimbabwe, where the producing company, Video Promotions, is based. The series, however, has a scope stretching beyond the borders of Zimbabwe hence the 'Africa' aspect in the title. Discover Africa is a visual journey across Africa. The programmes under the series cover a myriad of amazing socio-cultural and geographical themes. The series depicts some extraordinary practices in the way Africans interact, co-exist, and adapt to their environment. It also captures some breathtaking geographical and historical features that make the continent a hub of tourism.

The programmes in the series include the following:

Episode 01: Victoria Falls

This is a typical tourist video on the magical Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe. It affords the viewer a close to real view of this world heritage site. This programme shows the falls from the air, from the edge, from both the Zimbabwe and the Zambia sides. The viewer is invited to discover this great wonder of creation. This episode shows the various fun and games to be experienced by those visiting the Falls. Bungee jumping, gorge swing, white water rafting, canoeing and flying fox are some forms of entertainment available to visitors-and all this is amply captured in the programme.

The episode also affords a view of the Victoria Falls town and its various pleasures. It describes the history of he town and the modern hotels and pleasure spots available to visitors. Casino, Makishi dancers and sunset and game viewing are some of the pleasures to be had from the comfort of the majestic hotels and lodges in the area.

Episode 02: Visual Arts and Craft

This is programme looks at the visual arts industry in Zimbabwe. It shows various artists at work as well as some of the cultural products displayed and sold in some of Zimbabwe's galleries. The episode focuses on stone and metal sculpture, painting, batik printing, basket weaving and pottery, among other forms of art. It unveils the secret behind artist's conceptuslisation of art. It also tells on the administration of the visual arts industry in the country.

Visual Arts and Craft is a story told through narration and interviews with some of the renowned artists in the country. The various captured in this video tell the story of the peoples producing it and captures the history of he nation and the diverse culture of its peoples.

Episode 03: Traditional Dancing

This episode shows various dances from different cultures in Southern Africa. The episode is shot at Victoria Falls where tourists from around the globe can enjoy the art of dencing. The drumming, the humming and singing and the gestures all combine to show the uniqueness of African traditional dancing. The attire of the dancers by itself also speaks the trory of Africa.

The Nyau, Makishi and Ndebele dancers are only a few of the dancing groups showcasing their in the African night in this video. The dancing routines shown by these groups are similar within the region. In Malawi, Zambia, Zimbabwe, South Africa and Namibia-one can find the same dances.

Episode 04: The Medicine Man

This is the story of traditional healing as practiced in the Shona tribes of Zimbabwe. It is centred on Tichaona Svosve, a spirit medium, who uses ancestral spirits to conjure up remedies for his patients. The viewer will savour the myths and facts presented in this programme. The drama surrounding Svosve's possession by the ancestral spirits boggles the mind. The animated spasms that characterise the healer's transition from the living world to the world of the dead and the controversy surrounding this practice is worth discovering.

Besides the spiritual rituals involved in some forms of traditional healing, this episode also relates the use of herbal medicine in the country to support the widely used clinical medicine.

The witchdoctor's procedures are interlinked with interviews to tell this mysterious story of healing and the administration of all forms of traditional healing in the Southern African country.
