"You're not going to believe what happened about a year ago. My Mom was putting dinner in
the microwave oven and just as she pushed the button there was some sort of a glitch and
suddenly everybody in the kitchen was covered in this green glow for about a minute.
Suddenly...my family had changed. My Dad discovered he can fly; he's super-strong with
laser vision, and an invincible force field around him. My Mom can fly, too, and she can read
minds and make things fly by just thinking about it. My little sister, Susie, has an I.Q. of
about a zillion, they call her Baby I.Q. and she thinks she knows everything. Then there's my
dog, George, who can also fly, walk upright, talk and even read (he's been writing my book
reports for me). Most of the time they're off doing super-hero stuff. Oh yeah, then there's
me. I'm Norman, and I'm thirteen. When the microwave blew up I was in my room reading comic books. The rest of my family has a normal identity when they're not fighting injustice. But not me, I don't have to pretend I'm normal. I'm so normal it makes me want to puke. Man, if I had superpowers, I'd kick some butt, I'd show them all! My best friend is Martin Bloomer, and we hang out together. There's this girl named Jenny I've got my eye on. You better not tell anybody or there'll be trouble. After all, this is the story of my life and I don't want it getting around..."
