During the middle period of Ming dynasty, the emperor's uncle called Shenhou establishes the Hulong Mountain Villa according to the ex-emperor's last wish. Here gather four skillful knight-errants with good Kung fu. They are Duan Tianya, a man with unimaginably good Kung fu, Guihai Yidao, a man with the fastest and most redoubtable sword Kung fu, who can kill a person just within one move of his sword, Haitang, a shrewd and versatile lady with a delicacy feature and Cheng Shifei, full of wisdom and cleverness, who happens to learn a Kung fu, named Jingangbuhuaigong. When Cheng Shifei is protected by the Kung fu, no weapons can hurt him.
Their common enemy is eunuch Cao Zhengchun, whose power is very strong and who does countless evil things. Ambassadors from Chuyun Country pretend to present beautiful women to the emperor, but this is not their true aim. After their conspiracy is discovered, Cheng Shifei and the princess Yunluo succeed in defeating them. Due to their corporation, they fall in love with each other, but their love is opposed by the emperor and all the court officials. The princess decides to elope with Cheng Shifei. The emperor is moved by their love and agrees their marriage finally.
It is found out later that the ambassadors of Chuyun Country are actually from Jujing Gang which is under the control of Master Lee. Duan Tianya and Haitang work together to kill Master Lee and make Jujing Gang loyal to the emperor again. After this has been done, Duan Tianya marries Piaoxu and they move to the Snake Island to live.
Guihai Yidao confesses his love to Haitang and she accepts his love because she needs a man to love her after Duan Tianya who she loves before gets married. After Guihai Yidao knows that it is his mother that kills his father, he is lost in great pain and he does not know what he should do next step.
A lot of murders happen in the capital and Guihai Yidao is doubted to be the murderer. Guihai Yidao hews off his own right hand In order to show his innocence. When hearing about the news, Duan Tianya and Piaoxu come to the capital to help to investigate these murders. Taking the advantage of the big trouble, eunuch Cao Zhengchun rises up to rebelled. However, he is killed by the four knight-errants.
After the death of Cao Zhengchun, Shenhou admits that all of the things are done according to his plan, and he is in charge of the whole conspiracy, because he wants to be the emperor long before. Tianya, Cheng Shifei and Yidao help the emperor to defeat Shenhou. After that, the emperor changes the name of Hulong Mountain Villa into Humin Mountain Villa in the charge of Duan Tianya.
