Growing within Gobi Desert along with China's HeXiZouLang, Ji Ji Grass is almost everywhere in the region.

A group of people has lived for 500 years in this village with their farm land and sheep. Together with the ancient castle which they are now living in, and the Great Wall that their ancestors had guarded, these people nearly distinct years after years.

Ji Ji Grass owns seven deep roots. It is strong enough to resist the harsh freezing and dry condition.

Nowadays, villagers in Xia Kou ancient castle have already forgot how prosperous the Silk Road had brought this land to be. Huge amounts of fertile land, which had been great proud of their ancestors, are now annihilated. People in the castle are spending a whole life only with their sheep. Are they waiting for something or are they already numb?

Ji Ji Grass cannot be wiped out. Although in winter the fire spreads wildly and burns everything into dust the Ji Ji Grass can grow again after a spring rain.

Entering the year of 2007, Xia Kou village begins to have its luck. Facing possible changes and interest brought by development of tourism business, different people have different attitudes and activities.

What we have recorded is such a special period of time of Xia Kou village. It's like the Ji Ji Grass on the wild dessert. You do not know how far it grows or you never can dig up all its roots.
