This is a new history legend delivering the downfall of Sui and prosperity of Tang Dynasty.
The most celebrated people in the teleplay are Emperor Yangdi and Li Shimin. Emperor Yangdi was hideous and cruel. He was well learned and affective to his daughter but war-addicted and oppressive to the loyal words. He lost the Sui Dynasty at last. Li Shimin was ambiguous. He loved the princess of Sui Dynasty seriously; their affection was very romantic. However, they didn’t live together in the end, which was very regretful.
There are many other people in the teleplay: the fierce and powerful leader Limi, the great heros who were very famous in the history books: Qinqiong, Cheng Yaojin, selfish Yu Wenshu, steady and experienced Yu Shiji, honest and loyal Qu Tutong and greasy Feng Deyi.
In the teleplay, the emperor and ministers fought against each other openly and secretly, especially the 3 brothers of Li family. They were affective and harmonious in the battle of fighting against and pushing over the Sui Dynasty, aiding their father to destroy the Sui and establish the Tang Dynasty. However, when they had just settled down, Jiancheng, Yuanji became the rivals of Shimin. Li Shimin shot his elder brother Li Jiancheng to death, ending the contest by the raging Xuanwumen coup.
