Based on the Yury Kolesnikov novel Labyrinths of a Secret War.
An investigative team headed by state security officer Major Semin joins the division of partisan commander Shmakov. Semin’s works zealously to recruit the highly-placed German spy Shimmel, and receives information on chemical weapons being stored in the city from the fascist. However, Semin’s assistant Lieutenant Kotelnikov has doubts about the information, and with the help of the partisan he tries to find out the truth. The investigation leads to a bloody conclusion.
