The legendary life of folk hero Pu Di-liu came out of his courage, wisdom & romance.

Accidently, in one dispute, the bandit chieftain Hui Bao-shi killed Pu Jing-ru, a sainted intellectual of Gemeinde Shili for him offending the wide-spread habit of bandits. Pu Jing-ru’s wife happened to be a Kungfu master who was called as "a ferocious woman". Seething with hatred, the woman went to the bandits' lair all by herself, and hacked dozens of bandits including Hui Bao-shi by a sharp knife. Hence, Pu family and bandits feuded with each other for generations.

"Border-Town Man" mainly tells that the hero Pu Di-liu smashed bandits, went to join the PLA and made a great contribution in suppressing bandits for Xiangxi in order to save folks from untold miseries between 1907 and 1914.
